9 Sep

We are coming up on a meaningful anniversary this Sunday: 10 years after September 11, 2001. Churches all over the country will be holding special services in remembrance of those who lost their lives. Redwine will be having a reading and candle lighting in each of our services.

The choir is singing at the 11:00 service and will be sharing the Robert Lowry hymn, “Nothing But the Blood.” Living 1826-1899, Lowry was an American minister and prolific hymn writer, composing hymns that are still popular to this day, including “Shall We Gather at the River?” and “How Can I Keep from Singing?” Although it was written more than 100 years ago, “Nothing But the Blood” holds a timeless truth.  Only Jesus can cleanse us and set us free from sin.

1. What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Chorus: Oh! Precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

2. For my pardon, this I see,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
For my cleansing, this my plea,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
(Repeat chorus)

3. Nothing can for sin atone,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
Naught of good that I have done,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
(Repeat chorus)

4. This is all my hope and peace,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
This is all my righteousness,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
(Repeat chorus)

Return to Blog

After a meeting about keeping the content current on the church website, I realized I should do a better job of keeping this page up to date! I will try to post up reminders of our practices, as well as information about the songs that we sing. Thanks for reading!

Christmas Choir Practice Reminders

7 Nov

Hello Everyone,

It’s been a while since I posted on this blog, but I wanted to give another reminder of our Christmas schedule. I am very excited about starting our rehearsals! I think this year will be a wonderful program, and I’m looking forward to hearing what our choir can do!

On December 19th, we are having our Christmas Program. It will begin at 10:30 and be an all music and bible reading service. Here is the rehearsal schedule:
Nov. 7: Meet at 10:30 to practice for the 11:00 service, evening practice from 6-7pm
Nov. 14: Practice from 6-7pm
Nov. 21: Practice from 6-7pm
Dec. 5: Practice from 6-7pm
Dec 12: Practice from 6-7pm
We will not practice the Sunday after Thanksgiving. In addition to our Sunday morning program, we will be singing at the Christmas Eve service, which will begin at 6pm on Christmas Eve, which is a Friday this year. We will include the music for Christmas Eve in our practices.
Also, we will have a caroling service project with the youth and children. After each choir practice, if you want to participate, we will learn 2-part Christmas Carols for 15 minutes. In December we will travel to homes such as Peachtree Plantation and share the carols with the people there! If you have any ideas, or know anyone who would like a visit, please let me know. Again, the children and youth will be welcome to participate in this, please encourage your children to come! Let’s keep the tradition of caroling alive!

Redwine Favorites

19 May

A few years ago, Jan polled the congregation on their favorite songs that we have sung in church. I thought I would use this blog to ask something similar. :)

What is your favorite song that you have sung in choir/heard our choir sing? And if you feel like elaborating, (optional) why was it special to you? If you have more than one favorite, that’s okay too!

Reminders for Upcoming Sundays

10 Nov

Hi everyone,

Just a few reminders I wanted to give:

-We will not have Crosswinds practice tonight (Tuesday), but we are playing this Sunday (11/15). Meet at 8:15 to run over the set.

-Choir practice November 29th

-On Sunday, November 22nd, we will have a visiting gospel group play at the 11:00 service, so there will be no Crosswinds or choir that day

-I will need either a pianist or other musicians willing to play at the 9:00 service on that day

-Children’s Choir practices for their Christmas program are being held on Sunday evenings starting at 4:30. See Anita for more details.

-Remember to come to Worship on Wednesday at 7:00 (dinner at 6) as this is still going on!

And finally, a big, big thank you to the church and all the people who helped make this past Sunday a very special time for Jan and all Crosswinds members! It’s such an blessing to get to work with such caring people.

Blessings,

Erin
